CREATIVE LONDON: Laura Jackson

This week we caught up with TV presenter and supper-club hostess, Laura Jackson, who has just collaborated with MARTINI and Radio Alice on a bespoke Aperitivo menu.

WOW, THAT’S QUITE A TITLE YOU HAVE THERE! CAN YOU TELL OUR READERS A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING?

I am a British broadcaster, up until recently I co-hosted a dating show for ITV2. My other love is food, which is something I have written about over the years, for titles including ELLE, Vogue and Marie Claire. I co-founded a Supper Club called Jackson and Levine which ran for six years, we had a cool range in Habitat and a cookbook. I have just started a new brand HOSTE – a Supper Club brand.

AND WHAT ABOUT THE JOURNEY THAT GOT YOU TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW…?

I moved to London to study events management, and whilst doing so I was working part time waitressing at big events all over the city where I met lots of friends wanting to get into food and lifestyle. I then got a job at Shoreditch House on the door… that was 10 years ago! I met some great people, including someone who put me in touch with a TV agent. From there I started in TV, but it wasn’t until I wrote a little cookbook for my mum and met my Jackson&Levine co-founder, Alice, that a career in food started too.

YOU HAVE A VERY EXCITING PROJECT CURRENTLY WITH MARTINI AND RADIO ALICE, DO TELL….

Yes! It is very exciting indeed. I’ve collaborated with MARTINI Fiero to curate a bespoke Aperitivo menu at Radio Alice pizzeria Hoxton, which launched in October and throughout this month. It’s the perfect partnership for me really, as it’s all about sharing the love for Aperitivo culture, Italian dining and enjoying those all-important moments with friends – I can’t think of anything better!

Each of my dishes have been carefully curated to pair with MARTINI Fiero & Tonic – the perfect Italian Aperitivo accompaniment. The limited-edition menu is on until November 20th at Radio Alice’s Hoxton location so hurry on down whilst you still can.

MARTINI FIERO SOUNDS DELICIOUS. HOW DO YOU SERVE IT?

For the perfect MARTINI Fiero and tonic, fill a balloon glass with plenty of ice and then pour in an equal ratio of MARTINI Fiero and tonic. Stir gently and then serve with a generous slice of blood orange.

WE HEAR THAT YOU ARE AN EAST LONDONER, ANY FAVOURITE EAST LONDON HOTSPOTS ASIDE FROM RADIO ALICE?

I love Campania on Columbia road, I go there in the summer for pasta and Aperitivo outside on their tiny pavement terrace, or in winter I love enjoying Aperitivo at the bar with friends.

WHAT WOULD YOU PERFECT LAZY SUNDAY IN LONDON LOOK LIKE?

I love relaxing at home, reading books, then having friends for brunch followed by an evening on the sofa watching The Crown.
